vote early and often!
GET OUT THERE AND VOTE!!!
It's finally election day, and we are going to win!
Here are the two most important things you can do for gay rights today:
1. Tell EVERYBODY you know in California to vote No on Prop 8!
2. Tell all those same people that no matter what happens with the presidential election, they MUST still come out and vote No on Prop 8! The fear is that Obama will win so resoundingly on the East Coast that they'll call the election before the polls close in California, so Democrats will say "Oh, well if it's over, why bother voting?" But we NEED them to still come out and vote No on Prop 8! (and 4)
I was at another rally last night in a very conservative part of LA, and the support was still very encouraging. I believe we're going to win.
Either way, I am happy with the progress we've made. Last night I walked into my parents' house, and found my mom on the phone in her office. She shhhh'd me and motioned that I should go get on the other line. She was on the phone with a Mormon yes on 8 caller. She kept that lady on the phone for OVER AN HOUR, just so that she wouldn't be able to call 20 other people and tell them to vote yes. Hahahaha! But more important than that, I got to hear my mom make an eloquent plea for tolerance and love. If I ever had a doubt that she's fully behind me as a gay man, my doubts are gone. It was amazing.
I'm excited about today. No matter what happens, America and the world will be a better place tomorrow after an 8 year mistake. I voted yesterday, so now I'm off to work outside the polls telling people to vote No on 8.
Go tell everybody you know in California to VOTE NO ON 8!!!

Matt,
No matter how the votes goes today remember, YOU have won! You have tried to make a difference and you have developed a very special relationship with your parents...
As much as some of us would love to change the world enmasse we must also realize that sometimes change occurs one person at a time....
I am proud that I was able to cast my vote for Obama this morning!
"vote early and often"???
Now, I dont know how it works in the US, but here in England you can only vote once on this type of thing!

It's an old Chicago joke, stephen chapman, about how they used to get dead people to have a vote...
it's supposed to have improved...
Matt- your friend needs to know something. There are two great decisions that gay guys have to make, in either order:
(a) Come Out
(b) Lose Religious Beliefs,
or at least Fear of Religious Beliefs and the idea that they help you.

It's so great that your mom is 100% percent behind you and behind No on Prop 8! Must be a great feeling!
I actually just called my mom up to ask her about her voting experience. She had been back and forth with 8 when I asked her about it. I'm not out to her so it was awkward talking to her about it before but I still tried my best to get her to understand the No side. And this morning, she voted NO! I'm so proud of my mom! She told me "It just seems unfair to do that to them." It made me so happy to hear that from her.
Matt,
I'm pretty sure your mom is fully behind you beacuse she unconditionally loves you as her son. The fact that you are a caring, independent man probably makes her more proud than you'll ever know. The fact that you happen to be gay is probably to your mom, just on of the many things that makes you unique. I can tell she wants what most every parent wants for their child... happiness, opportunity and and love.
Kudos to your mom. I wish a Mormon had called me, too. Or stopped by. With a bottle of Grey Goose and some limes. And a sparkle in his eye. . . Oh, okay, back to politics! ;-)
thank you so much 4 being so active in this election! Im 16 and I feel bad that I cant vote, but at least I can help by sending emails, posting bulletins, etc
YES WE DID!
Congrats!
Now, go give your mom a hug and tell her thanks!
Looks like CA prop 8 will pass.
arizona baned gay marriage, arkansas banned gay couples adopting children, and florida also banned gay marriage.
The fight goes on for equality. there is no stopping it!
A friend of mine married his b/f in CA last week. What are they going to do now - divorce them?
well prop 8 passed. Now it is up to the courts to decide if the will of the majority can put down the rights of the minority. Good luck California and god speed.
